** memo : pH was adjusted with 6 M HCl or 10 M NaOH. Autoclaving was carried out
at 120 ˚C and 1 AT during an hour. After sterilizing, cysteine hydrochloride
solution (0.2 g L-1), substrate - glucose (or yeast extract, or peptone, or
sucrose) - (1 g L-1), and sterile culture broth filtrate of Desulfurococcus
amyloliticus 1221n (= DSMZ 18924) (at a 1/100 v/v ratio) were added.
